Humbled by FB birthday posts, but nearly ready to quit it and limit itto work related stuff.

As I continue into my early 40's, I am tending to celebrate with my small circle.  I was spoiled by my girls!   I had a great weekend.   It was hot as hell, but I did my best to stay in air conditioning or by the water.  Logging onto Facebook and checking messenger, I was overwhelmed with birthday greetings.   It's nice to be considered or remembered.  I have pissed so many people off in my life, I am lucky to still have folks to care to acknowledge me.  Even people I have pissed off either messaged me or sent me a FB greeting.  So, I am deeply thankful and humble.  I am insignificant and a tiny grain of sand on this planet.  So, for that I am grateful for another year.

We spend so much time on our hamster wheels and phones until most people forget how to communicate.  Or they scroll in their phones, ignore, like, love, block, whatever happens on social networking.  It's exhausting trying to keep up.   I would rather work out, read a book or invite a friend over to binge watch something on Netflix (or on demand).  Going forward, I am going to continue to leave my house more and actually make an effort socially.  So far, I don't think I'm doing too bad, but there is room for improvement.

I keep my Facebook account to communicate with some people who hate texting or talking on the phone.  And for professional reasons.  But I'm over many aspects of it and I am on the fence about deleting it.   A friend of mine deleted hers awhile ago and she doesn't miss it.  Texting her tonight is causing me to rethink social networking........

Nerd Bot Con 2016

I decided I would hit up a new one day nerd convention at the Pasadena Convention Center. This was the first annual Nerdbot-Con.  The fellas from the Nerds With Attitude Podcast had a table there.  I have made friends with some of the wives of the men that are part of the NWA group and to show support, my friend Diana and I checked out this con for a few hours.

To get in the convention going spirit, we dressed up as Mario and Luigi.  Her daughter Emily was Toad.

This Con encouraged attendees to dress up and show off their cosplays!  There were so many fantastic costumes....

Meanwhile at the NWA table....

There were cosplay group tables, games, (zombie shooting in action below) and vendors with neat stuff.

Favorite thing from Artist Alley....

More great cosplays...

The Nerdbot girls were super nice and friendly.

Below is Diana's daughter Brooklyn posing with one of the Ladybugs (Los Angeles women's comics creator league)

They were the sweetest girls ever!

We chatted with Norm and Susan who run Karate Pet Shop Comics.

Here is my purchase of the day.....

More Art and cosplay...

Here is one of my favorite cosplays of the day.  A lovely Harley Quinn!

I ran into Optimus Prime and Megatron.  Thanks again to NWA podcaster, Kevin for the picture!

Genius Stranger Things cosplay group!

Thank you to Diana for the extra photos and company!

Brick Fest 2016

So, the mister and I checked out Brickfest a couple of weeks ago.  This was the first mutual day we had off together in a long time.  We both love Legos, so what better place to be?

This shirt is a must for anyone who likes MLB!

The merchandise was cute!  The place was packed and there were many building tables for kids and vendors.  We took out time to take it all in.   Kids of all ages everywhere were enjoying what Lego has to offer!

Here are some of our favorite creations......

Being a fan of Disney, the Finding Nemo creation was awesome!

It's all about Ghostbusters!!!!

And here are some other builds......

It seemed like there were more adults building than kids.  Kids tend to get more excited over the mini-figures it seems.

Kids also are huge on the Lego Video games too!

Top dollar mini-figures....Kids and (some grown folk) love the little Lego people!  They seem to be a higher demand than most bricks and even some sets.   When Mini-figs run on average 3-4 dollars, many popular ones can go up in price.

Patty and Selma.  Want and need!

Disney!

The album covers were too cute!

There were some great finds with many of the vendors.  Loads of custom molds and everyday items, such as the bookmarks and paper clips below.

I got excited over the earrings!  Very Very neat!

Overall, a fun day, with a lot of great stuff to look at!
