Earrings of the day! 2.28.13

I tend to believe that combining a luck stone and a protection stone is a good thing.   Jade is not only a money stone, but a good luck stone.  Not to mention delicate and beautiful.  Onyx is a stone of strength and protection.  I didn't assume that the stones would be so close in size, but they were!

They almost look like black and white earrings, but rest assured, they are light green jade green and black onyx.  They compliment one another nicely.

Earrings for the day 2.26.13

Carnelian stones and Onyx stones! Protection and health stones!  These beads would make a neat bracelet, (and I have one like this) but of course I want to make earrings.

The end result........

Earrings of the day! 2/25/13

I had a small string of red aventurine beads that I was on the fence about, because I didn't know if I would use them for jewelry or another project.  I had a few oval green aventurine beads and saw that they would make a nice combo with earrings.  I could have just made a bracelet, but I want to save the rest of the red beads for other projects I have planned.

They look nice in darker light!  I like the ruddy tone to the red aventurine.  Red aventurine is great stone to wear for those with higher blood pressure and is a weight loss stone.  (so I have heard.)  Green aventurine is a great stone to wear to calm the nerves and is a good luck stone.  Most green stones are good luck stones.

Ah.. Life. Projects of the week and the lack of time....

I am determined to get things done despite having possible jury duty.  I have a power point presentation due at work, a few friends of mine have birthdays coming up early March and I need to get a few things finished. I decided to make a No-sew blanket for a friend in PA and a cute knit item for a Pisces friend of mine.  This weekend, I had some things to take care of around the house and Austin and I still didn't get everything we needed from Home Depot.  Why?  Not enough people at work on a Sunday evening.  We did get a lamp for more lighting in our office, so we did accomplish one thing.  We didn't have time to hit IKEA or anywhere with decent shallow shelving.  Next weekend maybe.  Where does all the time go???

I stayed home all day cleaning, picking up after the cats, cooking and weeding the garden.  I wanted to watch my Superfriends DVD and just knit.  Didn't happen. Extra cat dander and puke to clean.   Saturday, I managed to finish a cute scarf because I let my mom do the driving with all of my errands.  (I plan to do the same thing next Saturday).  My mom is the safest driver around anyway.

Do I own a day planner?  Yes.  Cell phone with all of the extras?  (Yes,  but I refuse to pay for internet).  Wall Calendars? Yes.  Clocks?  yes!!!  And another yes!  Time?  Just slips away.

I had a weird morning.  I was wide awake at 5am and made coffee.  Figured I would start the day and get some things done.  No.  I crawled back in bed after coffee and watching a few things on the DVR.   I didn't wake up until Austin was up and dressed for work.  I finally get up and make breakfast and seem to spend a day away from my crochet hooks and jewelry tools.  I haven't eve touched my Lego Friends sets 1 got for Valentine's Day! Now it's time to play!

Scarf of the weekend

As I was working on this one today, it reminded me of the fruit stripe gum wrapping and sherbet!  It was a quick knit and I used a 10mm hook.  The Mr. claimed it looked a bit like Pebbles cereal.

Earrings of the day 2.22.13

The moonstone is another emotional stone for women to wear.  It absorbs the emotions and feelings of the person who wears it!  I thought the chipped beads looked nice against the black findings.

I thought I could get more beads on the stems, but it held only three.

Scarf of the week with some butterfly bling!

I had some left over lavender wool yarn and to make a scarf with just this color would seem very blah or plain to me.  I bought some butterfly clips to add to it and the colors coordinated pretty well.  It took some time, but I thought the clips were a nice touch.

Earrings of the day 2/20/13

Amber beads rise again!  I wanted to use these again for some dangling earrings.  They are lightweight so I figured I would add some hematite spacer beads to them and use the crystal rock beads.

It was relatively easy to determine that I needed to use the longer stem of the findings, even though the shorter stem is usually more appealing for an earring that is worn frequently.   And yes, I was right, the shorter stem didn't work as well with this bead.

The longer stem worked better for this particular pair!

The hematite spacer was a good addition aesthetically and spiritually.

The end result......

Earrings of the day 2.19.13

Time for some earring therapy.  As you can see, I have my bead boxes ready and I have more chipped beads than any other beads.   I decided to go with my citrine stones........

Citrine is the ultimate money stone next to Jade.   Since, I have a few chipped beads left and wanted to make some plain citrine earrings.

Citrine is a great stone to wear when you are fighting infections and eliminating toxins.   It is also a stone that helps one ease fear.  (Jackson, 2006).

The end result.  I used sterling silver findings and fish hooks.

Earrings of the day 2.18.13 and I actually had some help!

Time to break out more Coral and Turquoise!  Biscuit decided that she wanted to help a little bit!  She loves round beads.  She kept staring at the coral beads like they were her toys.

Biscuit thinks this is all for her.......

Time to play!!!!

I started out with the shorter earring posts of the black findings and figured out quick that maybe I should make two pair.

I thought the longer pair were neat, but the shorter pair would weigh less on the ears.

The fishhooks were harder to work on the shorter pair.   Less stem to work with on the earrings.

Coral is the essence of life and turquoise is a life stone.  Life stone meaning that is a luck stone.  I guess you can say they are lucky earrings.
